  • After Sunday's snowfall, local children enjoyed sledding at the hill behind Cedar Crest College (a popular spot) where they traded shovels for sleds and embraced an old-fashioned winter play day.  69 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three older adults died after shoveling snow on Sunday, Jan. 26—each death was ruled natural, and the Lehigh County Coroner advised people with heart concerns to take breaks and seek help when clearing snow.  Daily Voice
  • A sinkhole opened along the 1200 block of North 15th Street between Fairmount and Woodlawn on Monday afternoon—forcing two families to evacuate their homes as they were moved to a hotel, with no injuries reported.  69 News

  • Commercial real estate vacancy increased in 2025 along the I-78/I-81 corridor in the Lehigh Valley, yet strong leasing gains + 12.3 million sqft of new construction projects and nearly half of fourth-quarter developments leased point to growth heading into 2026.  Lehigh Valley Business

  • A major winter storm forced Allentown schools to close in-person classes yesterday, and lessons moved online + officials plan to assess when it is safe to resume face-to-face instruction.  Daily Voice

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews from the Lehigh County Authority fixed a water main break at the intersection of Parkway Blvd & Ott Street in downtown on Monday; customers were advised to run cold water if it appeared cloudy. No boil water advisory was issued.  69 News
  • PennDOT lifted speed limits on area roads as winter storm cleanup continues+crews will treat each roadway until conditions improve.  69 News
