ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities announced on Monday, Feb. 2 that 29-year-old Matthew Rivera was pronounced dead at his Allentown home at 2:49 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1 after a natural death was determined by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center.  Daily Voice

BUSINESS NEWS

  • B. Braun announced CEO Rob Albert will retire on June 30 after a 42-year career, and Michael Parden will become CEO effective May 1 — the new executive will relocate to the Lehigh Valley with his family.  69 News
  • Peoples Security Bank announced that its president Thomas P. Tulaney will retire on April 3, and CEO Gerard A. Champi is expected to become president while Tulaney remains as a senior advisor (to assist during the leadership transition).  Lehigh Valley Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Allentown School District will resume a regular schedule today as students and staff return to in person learning while city crews continue clearing sidewalks and streets. The district advises extra travel time since bus delays may occur and STA will update routes as needed.  69 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Snow squalls and snow showers will sweep the region on Friday, Feb. 6, making travel hazardous and pushing temperatures 15 to 25 degrees below average by Saturday. A potential major winter storm is forecast to move in starting Thursday, Feb. 12, with impacts felt around Valentine's Day.  Daily Voice
  • On Monday night, Allentown residents discussed a city plan to plant 600 trees in underinvested neighborhoods, following nearly $1M in federal funding — officials will hold more meetings to shape an urban forestry master plan that will develop through 2028.  69 News

  • Crews restored water on East Boulevard in Bethlehem by 3 p.m. after an 8-inch water main break left 20 homes without service; workers in Salisbury Township are expected to finish repairs on East Emmaus Avenue by 6 p.m.—a break in Lower Saucon Township has caused outages amid frigid wind chills.  Lehigh Valley Live

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Krispy Kreme’s limited-time Valentine’s Doughnut Collection debuts today at local shops, through its app, and at select retailers. The collection features three heart-shaped treats and one twist on a classic favorite, and fans may share photos for a chance to win free doughnuts (contest ends Feb. 13).  Daily Voice

  • Waterfront Development Company completed an updated master plan for The Waterfront, a 29-acre mixed-use riverfront campus along the Lehigh River.
