  • Mack Trucks and NASCAR announced on Tuesday a multi-year extension that makes Mack the official hauler and adds 11 new Pioneer models to support the season, debuting during Speedweeks at Daytona (ahead of Sunday’s Daytona 500).  69 News
  • Lifeline, a local startup incubator, lands millions in federal funding to expand by converting over 10,000 sqft into wet labs + electronics labs. The project is set to boost business innovation in our community.  69 News
  • Aquinas Senior Living today launched a Regulation Crowdfunding offering so everyday investors can help fund improvements in senior care communities. The company will use proceeds to upgrade facilities across the Mid-Atlantic and offers a companion investment option for accredited investors + provides monthly returns.  69 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local singer Seth Witcher got a 20-second spot on American Idol during auditions at Belmont University in Nashville (he posted a golden ticket showing he advanced to the Hollywood round) and his final audition airs Monday, Feb. 16.  Lehigh Valley News

  • Gas prices in our community have risen this week, with the state average at $3.12 per gallon and $3.08 in the Lehigh Valley; refineries are switching to summer blend gasoline + prices may continue rising.  Lehigh Valley Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Allentown School District plans to add 10 modular classrooms to expand the Sonia Sotomayor Dual Language Immersion Academy by the 2026-27 school year, which would demolish a concession stand essential to local programs (a key neighborhood asset).   • Northampton County’s volunteer fire company received new radios funded by a state grant (a welcome boost given its heavy reliance on donations).  69 News

  • St. Luke’s bought the former Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company station in Lehigh Valley for $380,000. The purchase adds a historic building to its portfolio and may lead to future community services.  69 News
  • North Whitehall supervisors approved the Mauch Chunk Road Development on a 105 acre site at 3530 Mauch Chunk Road with 324 housing units, two retail spaces and a wastewater plant. Officials proposed a road realignment plus a roundabout now under review by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  69 News
  • Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly is investing $3.5 billion to build a new Upper Macungie plant that will be fully operational in 5 years (the move is expected to reshape the local housing market). The development could boost housing options in Lehigh Valley.  69 News
