  • PA-based custom home builder Zook Cabins was named on the Financial Times Americas' Fastest Growing Companies list for 2025—its second time on the list. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parents of five bi-racial students filed a federal lawsuit alleging that officials at Northwestern Lehigh School District failed to stop racial slurs on a school bus and at the middle school—despite disciplining offenders and hiring a third-party investigator after receiving over 24 reports between April 2023 and April 2024.  Lehigh Valley Live

  • Nurture Nature Center in Easton will host the free Youth Climate Summit on April 25 to engage middle and high school students on climate change and action, and it will expand on April 26 with Community Day featuring panel discussions with local leaders, student presentations, and activities like a bike ride — all aimed at promoting local sustainability solutions.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Cherry blossoms brightened Bethlehem City Hall on Tuesday but experts warn that cold air, wind, and nearly 2 inches of rain may cut the bloom short. A warm front is set to raise temperatures into the 70s today—however, showers and storms later could shorten the display before the Cherry Blossom Festival on April 5.  WLVR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Treasury Department mailed 7,380 checks through its Money Match program to return unclaimed property worth up to $500 to owners—40,000 more checks will be mailed in May. Treasurer Stacy Garrity noted that the program was supported unanimously by the General Assembly and the Governor and said the money is not a scam.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Allentown City Council voted Wednesday on a resolution to adopt a plan that will make local streets safer using a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The action plan—developed with Michael Baker International after community input—targets five high-injury corridors to guide future roadway improvements.  69 News
  • The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission said 2024 was a year of growth and change that brought challenges like a 9,000-unit housing shortage and increased development needs, so its budget rose from $5,951,012 to $6,577,690 in 2025. The commission also adopted new plans—including the region’s first multi-regional freight infrastructure plan—and is moving to a modern office in Allentown to better serve the community.  Lehigh Valley Business
