- ➤ Finanta, formerly Community First Fund, held its ribbon cutting on Wednesday to open a new office in Allentown at a renovated mixed-use building on North 7th Street. The building is part of a project by Valley Housing Development Corporation to rehabilitate Turner Street Apartments—restoring its Romanesque Revival design while modernizing twelve affordable housing units. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bethlehem man Justin Noel Hale was sentenced to serve 15 to 30 years in prison after a second trial convicted him on multiple felony charges including armed robbery and a 2020 shooting incident — his first conviction was overturned when a witness recanted his testimony. Lehigh Valley Live

- ➤ Last week Pennsylvania DEP started a $4.4M program for schools and childcare facilities to test drinking water for lead and fund repairs to remove it— some environmental advocates say funds should instead focus on replacing old plumbing. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ Allentown officials launched the Safe Streets and Road for All plan to end deaths by 2030 after more than 8,600 crashes were reported from 2019 to 2023. The plan will use a $1.9 million state grant and other funding to test traffic calming measures — including roundabouts at key intersections — to lower speeds and improve safety. WLVR
- ➤ On Wednesday, Gov. Shapiro visited Fegley’s Brew Works in Bethlehem to highlight his administration’s investments in small businesses and main streets. He detailed a 20 million Main Street Matters Program commitment and local funds for façade improvements and blight remediation — noting that federal tariffs may raise costs for areas like the craft beer industry.
