  • The Rev. Ruth Amadio became pastor of Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua last September and is settling into her new role this Easter season. She plans to engage with local events while leading Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. at 210 Pine St.  Parkland Press
  • United Way will honor B. Braun Medical Inc. for its decade-long partnership and over $135,000 raised in 2025 at the Celebration of Caring on April 16. The award recognizes the company’s strong volunteer leadership and growing community support.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • PPL Electric Utilities provided consumer protection tips for scam awareness during National Consumer Protection Week on April 8. Customers were advised to verify unexpected calls or texts and not to send immediate payments — following nearly 200 reported scam attempts earlier in the year.  Parkland Press

  • Student muralists in the Shoemaker Art Club completed their 50th mural (featuring characters from G.O.A.T., Super Mario Galaxy, and Hoppers) at AMC Center Valley 16 multiplex on Wednesday, Apr. 8. Teacher Jeff Shreck and club alumni supported the project.  Parkland Press
  • Local schools and township services announce a busy schedule: SES and SMS will begin PSSA testing on Apr. 20 while Salisbury Elementary hosts a PTO dinner at 6 p.m. on Apr. 13; SHS will have a bingo on Apr. 19 and a youth football camp is set for May 9.  Parkland Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents reported a bright flash and green fragments when a meteor streaked at 30,000 mph over parts of Pennsylvania on Tuesday. The rock traveled 117 miles before disintegrating 27 miles above the Atlantic Ocean.  Lehigh Valley Live

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Catasauqua Borough Manager Glenn Eckhart received the 2026 Borough Manager of the Year Award on March 26 at Delta by Marriott as part of a Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce event attended by over 300 regional leaders.   • At Macungie Borough Council's April 6 meeting, the Macungie Ambulance Corps reported 5,011 calls in 2025 and a 48% rise in community training courses. The corps also updated its growing team and volunteer outreach to better serve residents.  Parkland Press

  • At Sleepy Cat Urban Winery, the American Cancer Society will host live B104 interviews on April 11 for a telethon at Penn’s Peak (in the Poconos) where Bari Pollock, noted for her Relay for Life work, will receive the Courage Award.  Parkland Press

  • A new analysis by Construction Coverage finds that Lehigh Valley homes—averaging 54 years and with many built before 1980—could lead buyers to face higher repair and energy costs as limited new construction leaves fewer updated options available.  Lehigh Valley Business
