- ➤ Christie C. Tito, a 69-year-old Allentown resident, was struck by a vehicle near Hamilton Street and South Franklin Street at about 5:30 a.m. on April 7 and later died at Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest from blunt force injuries while police and the district attorney are investigating the crash. - ➤ Bob Burkholder, president of Burkholder HVAC in Macungie, said that both homeowners and business owners should schedule tune-ups to clean coils, check drainage, change filters and remove debris before warmer weather arrives. He added that smart thermostats and eco-friendly refrigerants like R-32 will soon boost system efficiency — a change that will need help from trained technicians — as his team updates its skills. - ➤ State Rep. Jeanne McNeill proposed House Bill 156, inspired by a 2022 incident at Happy Smiles Learning Center (where over two dozen people were hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning) that would require child care centers to install carbon monoxide detectors in buildings with carbon monoxide sources. - ➤ Jared Isaacman—Northampton County’s billionaire businessman—will attend his Senate confirmation hearing tomorrow for the NASA administrator role before Sen. Ted Cruz and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation in Washington.
