  • United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley announced on Thursday that its fundraising campaign raised $26.23 million—marking 15 consecutive years of growth and support for over 200,000 residents. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 21-year-old man from Allentown lost his life on Thursday when his car veered off the Route 309 overpass and flew onto the eastbound lanes of I-78 near mile marker 60.5—state police said he died from multiple blunt force injuries.  Lehigh Valley Live

CRIME NEWS

  • Two men, David Isiah Rivera and Pedro Junior Paulino, are headed to trial for homicide and other charges after video footage and shell casings linked them to a February shooting outside the BKK Lounge on Union Boulevard that left Ivan Diaz dead, and both remain in jail with bail denied.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Allentown police are investigating a shooting that happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night in the 800 block of North Meadow Street—officials have not released further details.  69 News

  • On April 11th, Giant Market donated $8,623.86 to the Allentown School District Child Nutrition Department to improve school meals. The funds from its Round Up Your Bill program will help offer healthier options—testing new menu items for students.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Captain Barrington Irving, a Guinness World Record breaking pilot, visited Building 21 High School to check on students in his STEM program The Flying Classroom+ he shared details of his 2007 flight when he was 23. The program gives students online lessons+ hands-on projects such as building a remote-controlled car, and he encouraged them to explore science careers.  69 News

  • St. Luke’s University Health Network was named to Fortune magazine’s 2024 PINC AI 100 Top Hospitals List — its 11th year in a row and 13th overall — making it the only network in the Lehigh Valley to earn this honor. The award shows the team works hard to give good care.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • Cabot Creamery’s premium butter was recalled after tests detected high levels of coliform bacteria—an indicator of possible fecal contamination—in its 8oz Extra Creamy Premium Butter, Sea Salted distributed in Pennsylvania and other states. Agri-Mark Inc. said nearly all of the product was recovered before reaching consumers and no illnesses have been reported.  Daily Voice
