A 35-year-old man from Lower Macungie was walking on the 300 block of South Third Street on Route 309 in Coopersburg when he was struck by a tractor-trailer early Sunday morning before 3:30 a.m.—authorities said his identity is withheld pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday.

Jury selection began Monday for Obadiah Whack—accused of fatally shooting Giselle Trabal through her Allentown apartment door in September 2023, and police say the two knew each other.

Jacy Good ’08 will receive an honorary degree at Muhlenberg College’s commencement on Sunday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at the PPL Center in Allentown—she is known for her campaign to stop cell phone use while driving after a tragic crash changed her life.

The Allentown council passed a new ordinance to curb predatory towing practices by requiring companies to register vehicles, display clear business signage, and report all tows to police within 30 minutes—towing companies that violate the rules will be fined $500 or the fee charged, whichever is greater. Councilman Santo Napoli and Police Chief Charles Roca said the law is meant to protect residents from high retrieval costs.
