  • Wiz Kidz will close its Bethlehem Township site on Sunday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.—the fast-casual cheesesteak joint plans to relocate to Allentown to expand its delivery reach, with takeout starting in mid-June and table service by late summer.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Walmart will remodel its Allentown store at 1091 Millcreek Rd and its East Stroudsburg store at 355 Lincoln Ave later in 2025—upgrading signage, expanding departments, enhancing pickup and delivery areas and refreshing pharmacy spaces with wider aisles and private screening rooms—reflecting the company’s planned updates for the community.  Lehigh Valley Business

  • Ruby-throated hummingbirds have started their spring migration in Pennsylvania, with sightings noted in Allentown and nearby areas. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says urbanization is cutting into their habitat—bird watchers can use online maps and feeders to see them.  Lehigh Valley Live

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Allentown City Council plans to move about $2.25 million from unused federal funds to help the Housing Authority build eight affordable units at 436 N. 6th St.—The council committee approved transferring more than $1.8 million from older city accounts to fill a funding gap and prevent the federal government from reclaiming money.  Lehigh Valley News
  • On Wednesday night, the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to the tax break deal for the Foundry Flats Emmaus project, requiring Westrum Development Company to donate $5,000 each term over five years to support The Seed Farm program (5854 Vera Cruz Road). The 144-unit apartment complex on a former fuel distribution site at 300 Furnace St. is set to boost future property taxes after completing improvements.  69 News

  • The Lehigh Valley faces a worsening housing crisis with a 9,000-unit deficit and rapid population growth—experts warn that median home prices, now 4x household incomes, could reach 7x by 2050.
