- ➤ On Monday, Apr. 27, gas prices in the Lehigh Valley reached $4.123 per gallon—up from $3.967 last week—as rising crude oil costs from the Gulf conflict pushed fuel prices higher. Lehigh Valley Business
- ➤ Lehigh Valley International Airport saw a 1.26% drop with 94,053 passengers in March compared to last year. Officials said the airport will add a new daily Chicago flight May 1 and American Airlines will launch nonstop service to O’Hare June 4 — steps aimed at boosting spring travel. Lehigh Valley Business

- ➤ Sophie Tomov ’26, a pre-med biology major and French minor, received a Fulbright research award to improve pediatric care in Bulgaria with the For The Good Foundation through practitioner training + American collaboration. She will travel on September 1 and is Muhlenberg’s first Fulbright winner in 25 years. Muhlenberg College
- ➤ The Whitehall-Coplay School District Board of Directors proposed a 4.7% tax hike in its final 2026 to 2027 budget meeting to cover a $6 million deficit and to restructure by reducing recent staff. The board voted 8+1 and will share its reorganization plan in May. 69 News

- ➤ Pennsylvania State Police held their annual memorial ceremony today at Troop M headquarters in Bethlehem to honor 105 fallen troopers, including Cpl. Timothy J. O'Connor Jr. who died during a Chester County traffic stop. Troopers, retirees, and community members gathered to remember their sacrifices. 69 News
- ➤ Northampton County will close the Lower Nazareth and Northampton Senior Centers on June 30 due to a nearly ($400,000) cut in the Area Agency on Aging budget. Affected seniors will be assisted in attending a nearby center. Bethlehem Press
- ➤ Since a sinkhole opened on 15th Street three months ago, two Allentown families have been unable to return home after insurance companies denied claims. State Rep. Kinkead said House Bill 589 — in Senate review — may soon provide state-run coverage for sinkhole risks. 69 News
