  • On Thursday night a fire tore through three townhomes on Heritage Drive in Lower Macungie, hospitalizing two and displacing seven residents—firefighters contained the blaze shortly after midnight with help from multiple departments.  69 News

  • Officials at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom released video of construction on the revamped Cascade and Lightning Falls water slides—upgrades include a new bar experience and updates to the Tradewinds store—and the park will open a week from today while Wildwater Kingdom will welcome visitors 22 days from now.  69 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Undercover officers at Wind Creek Bethlehem uncovered a human trafficking ring that led to the arrests of 50-year-old Robert Demitrius Birch and 50-year-old Cittdata O. Jarnagin on multiple felony charges including trafficking and involuntary servitude—Birch was arraigned on Friday and Jarnagin is set for a preliminary hearing on May 12.  Lehigh Valley Live

  • Muhlenberg received a $1M gift from the Breidenthall family—matched by $1M from the estate of Edward ’42 and Lois Robertson—to create an endowed professorship in accounting, business, economics, or finance. Ranajoy Ray-Chaudhuri became the first named professor as part of the Boundless Campaign for Muhlenberg, which began in 2021 and will end on June 30.  Muhlenberg College

  • Officials said the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary at 3701 Orchid Place in Lower Macungie closed Tuesday after a bridge collapsed when a propane truck was crossing it — no injuries or environmental damage occurred and Wildlands Conservancy launched a webpage for updates.  WLVR
