ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday afternoon, a fire on West Allen Street in Allentown forced firefighters to use a ladder to rescue a man from a three-story home—leaving 11 people displaced and sending the injured man with non-life-threatening wounds to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest as crews stopped the fire from spreading and investigators probed the cause. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Louis Belletieri, a former Allentown title agent, faces federal charges for wire fraud after he allegedly gambled away $6.1M from an escrow account and misappropriated $825K in COVID relief funds from March 2020 to September 2023—charges that led local county cases to be dropped. - ➤ At about 6 a.m. today, Allentown police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Gordon Street—seizing several firearms including a stolen handgun, multiple rifles, and a shotgun along with illegal drugs and arresting four local residents on charges of narcotics and firearms offenses. 69 News

- ➤ Muhlenberg College has launched a new scholarship program for government workers who lost their jobs from recent layoffs. The new plan applies to all graduate—degree completion—and continuing education courses and provides up to $5,250 for graduate students and $5,000 for undergraduates. 69 News

- ➤ City council approved applications for a $5 million ARLE grant that would add red light cameras and other safety improvements on Hamilton Boulevard — one of Allentown’s most dangerous roads. Officials also seek a $7 million Safe Streets grant for updates on Tilghman and Union Boulevard — with the city contributing 20% if the grant is awarded. WLVR
