- ➤ Rite Aid — based in Camp Hill — announced it will close eight Pennsylvania stores as it files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy while keeping pharmacy services and planning to transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies. - ➤ William Allen High School received a $5,000 grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries on May 9 — one of 220 schools from 38 states awarded funding — and the money will help update its library collection. 69 News

- ➤ On Monday, a bipartisan bill passed the state Senate to enhance oversight of Allentown's Neighborhood Improvement Zone—giving independent auditors access to key tax data and restructuring its governing board. The bill now heads to the state House for a vote. 69 News
- ➤ On Monday, Mayor Matt Tuerk held a press conference urging voters ahead of the mayoral primary and criticized his opponent Ed Zucal for seeking support from both parties. Zucal responded by saying Allentown is at a crossroads and that he will work for every voter if elected — the election is set for May 20th. 69 News
- ➤ Firefighters from Lehigh County met at Scott Volvo to learn how to handle electric vehicle fires—training to use water to put out fires that can need thousands of gallons and to protect themselves from toxic fumes.
