  • Friday, June 5, the second annual Scott Babashak Memorial Scholarship Scramble at The Club at Twin Lakes begins registration at 11:30 a.m. with play at 1 p.m. The tournament honors the late reporter by raising funds for Penn State Lehigh Valley scholarships plus launching an online silent auction next week.  69 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The solar-powered plane that made a historic stop at our airport was destroyed on May 4 during a test flight by Skydweller Aero when it lost power and fell into the Gulf of Mexico (no injuries were reported).  Lehigh Valley Live

  • On May 5, Salisbury Township School District hosted an art show featuring student art, music, and a community mural—500 residents received free dinner at the high school cafeteria as Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten addressed budget concerns.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical, a spoof of a popular series, has been praised for its talented cast and quirky staging, and runs until May 17 at Civic Theatre (527 N. 19th St.) in Allentown with multiple performance times, including a showing today.  Lehigh Valley Press

  • Broadcom joined the Made in Lehigh Valley billboard campaign to highlight its semiconductor facility in Upper Macungie Township. The digital billboards are on I-78 & Route 22 as part of LVEDC’s ongoing effort to boost local manufacturing.  Lehigh Valley Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education approved its proposed 2026-27 general fund budget of $47,182,619 on May 5, raising tax rates in both Lehigh and Northampton counties, and final approval is expected at the June 9 meeting as pending contracts are finalized.  Lehigh Valley Press

FINANCE NEWS

  • PPL Corporation declared a quarterly dividend of $0.2850 per share on Wednesday, May 13 + shareowners recorded on Jun. 10 will receive the payout on Jul. 1.  69 News

  • Old Zionsville UCC will host nine free grief care sessions from June 3 to July 29, meeting weekly from 6-8 p.m. in the air-conditioned lower social hall (5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville), with registration available by contacting Rev. Lori Esslinger at 610-966-3601.  Lehigh Valley Press
