- ➤ PPL Electric said that rising electric generation costs are driving a planned rate increase for residential customers from 10.771¢/kWh to 12.490¢/kWh and for small business customers from 10.446¢/kWh to 12.114¢/kWh, with the new prices set to take effect on June 1. The company explained that rising costs come from retiring power plants and few new projects in the PJM region (a trend first seen in December) and added it will offer bill help programs (such as budget billing and flexible payment plans) to support customers.
