Good morning, Allentown. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 21st of May.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Political Pulse host Tom Shortell and political scientist Chris Borick discussed the Lehigh Valley primary elections and recent debates for mayor in Allentown and Bethlehem. They explained that debates at Miller Symphony Hall and Univest Public Media Center—and county executive contests—highlighted clear choices for local voters.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Polling places in the Lehigh Valley had very light early turnout on primary election day—Bethlehem recorded only five votes by noon while an Allentown site saw 28 voters before 10:30 a.m.; officials noted that approximately 48,000 mail-in ballots have been sent and more votes may be counted as they arrive.  WLVR
  • LANTA said it must cut bus service by 20% — raise fares by 25% — in January if extra state funding does not come. The agency faces an $11 million gap and will limit evening and weekend service and Shared Ride for Seniors access.  WLVR
