- ➤ The former Buca di Beppo on Grape Street in Whitehall was purchased by Sultan Property Group LLC for $1.15 million and will be renovated into an international supermarket with a Mediterranean kitchen by Thanksgiving. The renovation will update the commercial kitchen and add new features such as an olive bar and juice bar — the group plans to expand the building to enhance its gourmet shopping experience. - ➤ PA Chambers and economic development agencies urged lawmakers to support Gov. Shapiro's $55M child care workforce plan + which will offer bonuses to fill over 3,000 vacancies, raise wages, and help 25,000 more children access care. Josh Shapiro visited Lehigh Valley Hospital (Hecktown Oaks in Northampton County) on Thursday to rally support for a $292M mass transit funding plan in his 2025-2026 budget that he said would create jobs and boost the state economy. - ➤ Gov. Josh Shapiro filed a lawsuit against the USDA after the agency canceled Pennsylvania’s $13M Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program that supported 189 farms and 14 food banks.
