  • S&T Bank donated over $117,000 on June 17 to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to support childhood cancer research. The bank held 72 lemonade stands in Pennsylvania and Ohio from May 31 to June 7 and surpassed its fundraising goal for the third consecutive year.  69 News

  • An Allentown man pleaded guilty to killing 21-year-old Christian Lopez-Rodriguez during an Oct. 17 robbery on Hamilton Street bridge and was sentenced Monday to serve 30 to 60 years in state prison — new ballistic evidence linked him to the case —.  Lehigh Valley Live

  • Ed Gallagher, a retired professor emeritus at Lehigh University, researched his family’s ties to the Molly Maguires and wrote a 338-page book to honor their fight against harsh coal mining conditions. He began the work three years ago using Ancestry.com—later sharing copies with local libraries and historical societies—revealing a significant part of Bethlehem’s coal history.  Bethlehem Press
  • Band Crumb will perform at Archer Music Hall in Allentown on Thursday, June 19 as part of its short tour that showcases the group's evolving sound; general admission tickets cost $41.80 and pop band Kassie Krut will open the show.   • Food wholesaler UNFI announced it will close its Allentown distribution center in July as it ends its deal with Key Food—717 workers, including 172 truck drivers, will be laid off in staggered phases from August 12 through a period starting October 18.   • State lawmakers are debating new bills to tax and regulate skill games as Gov. Shapiro’s budget proposes a 52% tax to raise nearly $369 million.
