  • A park honoring Ayden Scharper will be built in Coopersburg to reflect his love for sports and provide a safe play area after he died on June 6, and his mother launched a fundraiser that has raised over $22,000 (from more than 200 donors) in just four days. The new park will include a soccer field, kicking wall, and playground to serve local families.  Daily Voice

  • Key Bank uses its national resources and local insight to support Lehigh Valley businesses by offering tailored lending, automated services, and community investments. The bank closed its branches early on June 4 for local volunteer work and invested between two and three million dollars in local nonprofits to help companies access larger loans while understanding market needs.  Lehigh Valley Business

CULTURE NEWS

  • The PA Shakespeare Festival is presenting 'The Producers,' a musical comedy running through June 29 at Labuda Center for the Performing Arts with an opening night on June 13 that impressed local reviewers.   • ArtsQuest broke ground Tuesday on its new $32M Creative Factory powered by PPL at the site of the former Banana Factory on Bethlehem’s South Side — the 78,500-square-foot center will offer year-round visual, performing and educational arts programs.  Lehigh Valley Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parkland School District Board approved the 2025-2026 budget on Tuesday night at the administration building, which includes a 4% property tax increase on a $248.8 million plan—this is a 5.1% rise from last year's spending plan and the district still needs $5.5 million to cover its shortage.  69 News
  • On June 10, the Catasauqua Area School District board approved the final 2025-26 budget of $44,751,399 and set a real estate tax rate of 23.0409 mills in Lehigh County and 58.5738 mills in Northampton County—Lehigh County rates will rise by 6.26% while Northampton County rates will fall by 4.48%. The board also approved a mentoring agreement with Big Brothers Big Sisters and several staff appointments and project updates for the new school year.  Lehigh Valley Press
