  • The Allentown Rotary Club began over 100 years ago with its first meeting on April 10 at the former Hotel Allen when founder Richard W. Iobst gathered eight community leaders—seven men and a clergyman—to serve the local area. The club now meets noon on Fridays at Cedar Crest College and supports education, volunteer projects and international initiatives through scholarships, food programs and humanitarian aid.  Parkland Press

CRIME NEWS

  • A possible bomb threat was made to Congressman Ryan Mackenzie’s office at 1125 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. on June 19, and Salisbury Township Police—along with ambulance crews—responded immediately.  Lehigh Valley Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Approximately 200 Emmaus High seniors were honored at the school auditorium — family, staff, and sponsors celebrated their academic and athletic achievements. Principal Beth Guarriello and district officials presented awards including the state Sen. HEALTH NEWS

  • LVHN strengthened its drug security by agreeing to pay $2.7M to settle claims that a pharmacy technician stole controlled substances at Cedar Crest pharmacy, and the network has since added new controls, training, and detection software to help prevent future thefts.  Lehigh Valley Business
