- ➤ The Allentown Rotary Club began over 100 years ago with its first meeting on April 10 at the former Hotel Allen when founder Richard W. Iobst gathered eight community leaders—seven men and a clergyman—to serve the local area. The club now meets noon on Fridays at Cedar Crest College and supports education, volunteer projects and international initiatives through scholarships, food programs and humanitarian aid.
