  • Last week, the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum in Allentown held a Juneteenth program that explained the holiday—June 19 marks the day enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free.   • Congress is reviewing proposed cuts to SNAP, which currently fuels nearly $367 million a month in Pennsylvania food spending and supports local farms, grocery stores and jobs.   • Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Education announced new guidelines for free and reduced-price school meals.   • The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for the Lehigh Valley and eastern Pennsylvania yesterday afternoon through the evening as a cold front plus tropical moisture brought strong storms with heavy rain that could spark flash floods and damaging winds — forecasters noted rainfall rates may hit two inches per hour.  Lehigh Valley News

  • The Allentown Parking Authority will launch a new ticket payment plan in August that lets community members pay off eligible fines in smaller amounts—making payments easier to manage.  69 News
