CULTURE NEWS

  • The Blueberry Festival will return to Burnside Plantation from July 19th to 20th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.—offering new attractions, family activities, live music, and colonial demos. Proceeds from the event will support Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites.  Bethlehem Press
  • Tony n' Tina’s Wedding, a fun and interactive play that ran at Musikfest Café from 2012 to 2017, will perform one night only on Aug. 22 at Bear Creek Mountain Resort — the production invites the audience to join in with dancing and laughter. Tickets are $95 for general admission and $125 for VIP seating, which includes a drink voucher and wine service during dinner.  Lehigh Valley News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • During Monday's meeting in Emmaus, board members delayed a vote on the proposed $95 million K-8 realignment plan set for the 2028-29 school year to address capacity and equity issues — members raised concerns about rising costs and economic uncertainty that could further slow necessary school renovations.  69 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At the Hanover Township meeting on July 15, council approved four property reassessments for Allentown addresses (881 Marcon Blvd., 2202 N. Irving St., 861 Marcon Blvd., and 894 Marcon Blvd.) to lower local taxes modestly and school taxes more substantially while also approving township bills of $136,676. Officials rescheduled the park movie 'Shark Tail' for July 10, provided updates on the Lloyd Street overlay project and D&L Trail amendment, and set the next in-person council meeting for 7 p.m. July 16 at 2202 Grove Road.  Bethlehem Press
  • Sen. Lisa M. Boscola from Northampton said she will soon introduce legislation to allow a two-week sales tax holiday on school supplies and select electronics to ease inflation—if passed, items costing under $50 and computers or tablets under $1,500 will be exempt from state sales tax during August.  Bethlehem Press

  • LVHN and Jefferson Health inaugurated two new centers at Tower Place on Monday, including the region’s first dedicated Women’s Health Center to boost care access. The centers opened on July 15 for local patients.  Lehigh Valley Business
