  • Tens of thousands of cases of deodorant made by A.P. Deauville—located in Forks Township—were recalled by the FDA for failures to meet current good manufacturing practices. The recall started on July 10 and is still active, affecting products sold in stores like Walmart and Dollar Tree.  69 News

CRIME NEWS

  • A man—identified only as a 37-year-old John Doe—was found dead in a field in Salisbury Township early Friday morning and was pronounced dead at 7:24 a.m., while an autopsy is underway and multiple agencies are investigating the case.  Daily Voice

  • Dorney Park is hosting Viva La Fiesta, a month-long Latin celebration with live music, food and family activities that will run every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting today until Aug. 17. Park Manager Kim Solis said the event will include performances by Manteca Blue and The Latin Corner — plus dance sets from Rumbamena Dance Company — and offers special Latin eats in park restaurants.  Lehigh Valley News

  • The Pennsylvania Department of Labor—Industry reported that the unemployment rate rose to 4.0% in June but remained below the national rate for the 26th month, and nonfarm jobs reached record highs for the 14th consecutive month despite a 5,000 decrease in the labor force.  Lehigh Valley Business

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lehigh County officials will meet next week with local law enforcement leaders to discuss protesters’ demands to bar ICE agents from making arrests inside the courthouse—protesters claim ICE detentions deter people from accessing justice. Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk and community organizers have raised concerns while state court officials maintain that ICE agents have the same legal rights as any citizen—county leaders say they will review all perspectives before deciding on any changes.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • On July 15, the state Office of Open Records ordered the Allentown School District to release records on BusPatrol—the contractor managing the stop-arm camera program—after denying LehighValleyNews.com’s request. The district now has 30 days to comply or file an appeal in Lehigh County Court.  WLVR
