  • Dry Goods announced it will open four new stores in 2025 including one at Lehigh Valley Mall to boost its total to 88 locations across 24 states. CRIME NEWS

  • A 25-year-old from Scranton was charged on Monday with felony theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and criminal use of a communication facility after she allegedly pretended to be a courier to collect two gold bars worth more than $215,400 from a 68-year-old victim in Upper Milford Township between February and May; police warned seniors not to share bank details.  Lehigh Valley Live

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Georgetown study found that the return on investment for a Muhlenberg College liberal arts degree surpassed 80% of nearly 4,600 institutions by 15 years after graduation and reached the top 10% over longer periods. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Rep. Mike Schlossberg said the Pennsylvania House passed a bill on June 11 that will raise the minimum wage through a county-specific schedule, reaching $12 per hour by 2028. The bill, which sets tipped wages at 60 percent of regular pay and ties future increases to the Consumer Price Index from 2029—now moves to the state Senate for review.  Bethlehem Press
