  • Six Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom announced a new combined season pass on July 29 that lets fans enjoy both parks with benefits such as free parking, exclusive discounts, and bonus tickets. The MVP Sale gives access to all Six Flags parks through the rest of 2025 and all of 2026 and will be available online until Sept. 1.  Daily Voice

  • An 82-year-old Lehigh Valley resident lost $50,000 in a cyber scam when her bank account was breached earlier this year, and although her bank refunded the money, local officials say small police departments lack the tools to track these international fraud rings — prompting calls for a national solution.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan said Erik Contes, 42, of Whitehall Township—free on $100,000 bail—will face charges of rape, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, sexual assault and indecent assault in court after a June 2nd, 2024 incident in South Whitehall Township where police found him with a very intoxicated woman needing medical help.  Lehigh Valley Press

  • The PA Shakespeare Festival’s Timon of Athens runs through Aug. 3 at Schubert Theatre at DeSales University and offers a stripped-down take on Shakespeare’s classic story.   • Don Cunningham said Lehigh Valley led American manufacturing last year with over 37,000 skilled jobs and more than $9 billion in output. He said the region benefits from reshoring and a strong workforce—advantages that have drawn a dozen new companies.  Lehigh Valley Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lucy—Catasauqua Area School District's first in-house therapy dog—is easing student stress by greeting students in hallways and classrooms since her first day on May 12. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City Center Group broke ground on The Standard, its 15th apartment building in Allentown, at 111 N. Sixth Street, replacing the former site of the Morning Call newspaper.   • Commercial leasing activity increased in Q2 along the I-78/I-81 corridor as 5 million square feet of space were leased and the Lehigh Valley maintained a 9% vacancy rate (118 million square feet available), while CBRE VP Sean Bleiler expects pending deals to lower the rate by Q3. Rent prices remain stable at just over $9 per square foot as fewer new buildings enter the market due to high construction costs.  Lehigh Valley Business
