  • Dennis Nemura and Marcie Nisley, residents of Traditions of Hanover, delivered healthy meals to homebound seniors through Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley in Lehigh, Northampton, and Carbon counties. They continued their strong volunteer work—helping over 2,000 seniors and adults with disabilities.  Bethlehem Press
  • On Monday night, the Allentown Parks and Recreation Department held its 111th Romper Day celebration at J. Birney Crum Stadium, where nearly 400 children performed dance, calisthenics, and games and enjoyed free hot dogs, ice pops, and water donated by the Harry C. Trexler Trust. The event honored young talent as Somaya Naomi Chappelle (13) received the Female Percy B. Ruhe Award and Chase Brown was presented the Male Ruhe Award for excelling in sports and arts during the summer playground program.  Lehigh Valley News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation said more than 21,000 people have moved to the area since 2020—most are young adults—and there are now 708,644 residents. Fifty out of 62 towns grew, with Bethlehem, Upper Macungie Township and Easton seeing the biggest gains.  Lehigh Valley Business

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 16, the Historical and Architectural Review Board at City Hall’s Rotunda approved a pair of certificates for repair projects at Central Moravian Church, including replacing mahogany balusters in the Bell Tower at 400 Main St—stone steps at the Old Chapel on Heckewelder Place will also be restored. Facilities Manager Michael Repsher represented the church as the proposals received unanimous support.  Bethlehem Press
