ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two Lehigh Valley mothers mourn the loss of their sons—22-year-old Peyton and 20-year-old Luis—who died in separate motorcycle crashes caused by speeding and careless driving, and they urge drivers to look twice to save lives. WLVR
- ➤ An 18-year-old man died when his car rolled down an embankment and hit trees in Lowhill Township on Aug. 24—Pennsylvania State Police in Fogelsville are investigating the crash. Daily Voice
- ➤ The Lehigh County coroner said 18-year-old Cole Hausman from Weisenberg Township died when his car left the roadway and struck several trees in Lowhill Township on Sunday night after 10:30 p.m.—blunt force head injuries were ruled as the cause of death. 69 News

- ➤ Hyundai and Kia owners can pick up free wheel locks today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2072 Downyflake Lane in Allentown as the District Attorney's office and AAA work to counter a TikTok trend that has spurred thefts (160 locks available) (dealers also offer free software updates for vulnerable models). 69 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 173rd Allentown Fair opens tomorrow, August 27, and runs through Labor Day, offering rides, food, concerts and family fun with chick hatchings and 4-H shows. The event will feature a new biergarten—designed with extra seating—and comedian Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias headlining Sunday at 7 p.m., while ticket prices start at $5 on the opening day. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources completed a $720K restoration at Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center on April 18 to improve flood resilience and public access to Bushkill Creek. The 1,600-foot project began in January and used natural design techniques — native plantings, root wads, and woven branch mats — to reinforce streambanks and add a third access point along the Lower Henrys Woods Trail. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Allentown councilwoman Ce-Ce Gerlach is launching her campaign for state representative for the 22nd District on Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at IBEW Local 375, 101 S. Seventh St.—she has served on city council since 2019 and on the school board. WLVR
- ➤ Allentown does not have a functioning Human Relations Commission more than two months after council repealed the 1963 discrimination ordinance in June and approved a new ordinance that gives Mayor Tuerk 60 days to appoint members. Former commission chair Jennifer Swann said the extra 30-day extension—intended to delay filling the commission—has left the panel empty 80 days later. Lehigh Valley News
