- ➤ Today the Great Allentown Fair opens at 4 p.m. for its 173rd year as vendors finish setting up their booths. Brass Rail returns after a 3-year pause and owner Mark Sorrentino said the vendor is ready to serve its famous steak sandwiches—bringing back a cherished local tradition. 69 News
- ➤ Give a Blessing, Get a Blessing will host its annual back-to-school bag giveaway at Allentown's Arts Park this Saturday. The nonprofit will distribute 550 book bags filled with school supplies and everyday items to 200 registered families + walk-in attendees. 69 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, Aug 26, 2025, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud Task Force gave away free wheel locks at the AAA East Central office on Downyflake Lane to Kia and Hyundai drivers with 2011—2021 models to deter theft. A few dozen drivers received locks after showing vehicle registration and insurance, and the locks were provided at no cost to taxpayers—courtesy of the vehicle manufacturer. WLVR

- ➤ Heart will perform a grandstand show at 7 p.m. today at the Allentown Fair grandstand at 302 N. 17th St.—tickets remain available. Guitarist Nancy Wilson said her sister Ann has fully recovered from cancer and the tour may lead to a new album project after the shows end. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ ArtsQuest will open 21 affordable artist studios at 930 Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown in March 2026—offering workspace, residencies, teaching, and exhibition opportunities to local artists, which will boost the creative economy. - ➤ Education advocates said that the state budget is eight weeks overdue, withholding more than $1.75 billion in funds from public schools. Allentown School District’s interim CFO said the district is waiting on about $30 million in basic education funds while its reserves cover operations through the end of 2025. 69 News
