CRIME NEWS

  • Allentown police sergeant Evan Weaver and former vice officer Jason Krasley were accused of sexual exploitation and rape as they repeatedly abused a victim from 2011 to 2015, and their case was transferred to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office—Lehigh County officials said the move followed a potential conflict of interest with the local DA.  Daily Voice
  • The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Wednesday that multiple cases involving a current and former police officer accused of sex crimes will be prosecuted by the PA Attorney General due to a conflict of interest—Jason Krasley’s theft, receiving stolen property and evidence tampering case will remain in the local court with a status conference at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.  69 News

  • Today, as the Allentown Fair opens its 173rd year, music critic John Moser shared a 25-year review of grandstand concerts featuring acts like 98° and Blink 182 — his ranked list highlights the best shows held at the fair's largest venue. His review captures performances across rock, pop, and country that drew crowds of up to 14,000.  Lehigh Valley News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 27th, Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio warned local drivers to follow safety rules after his team investigated over three dozen fatal crashes this year. Mayor Matt Tuerk said officials are working on road improvements—such as adding speed cushions near schools—to help keep Allentown roads safe as school starts and the Labor Day weekend nears.  WLVR
  • South Whitehall Township proposed a new zone on Tuesday that would allow data centers to operate in its northeast part. The plan sets rules to limit noise, height and impacts on schools and services — and the township has not yet received any applications for these centers.  69 News
