  • Area Ukrainians celebrated Ukraine’s 34th anniversary of independence with a flag raising on Aug. 22 at Payrow Plaza—over two dozen attendees, including Director Janine Santoro and State Rep. Steve Samuelson, marked the event with a city proclamation and a certificate of recognition amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.  Bethlehem Press

  • LVBCH extended its partnership with United Concordia Dental through 2030 with a six-year contract that took effect on January 1, 2025 using dental coverage to serve 275+ employer members and over 400,000 covered lives while saving more than $100M per year. CRIME NEWS

  • Allentown Police are searching for 19-year-old Jonas Robles—missing since Tuesday, September 2 and considered endangered because of his medical conditions—after he was last seen on the 500 block of Allen Street.  69 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local restaurants will launch Lehigh Valley’s first-ever Vegan Chef Challenge on Sept. 15 when diners can sample plant-based dishes until Oct. 15. Four local spots have signed up so far—dishes will be rated online with winners announced in late October or early November.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Lehigh University Art Galleries is celebrating its 100th anniversary today by presenting an exhibit of work from 100 artists—visitors can see the curated collection at the gallery.  69 News

  • Palmer Township Supervisor Charles “Zeke” Bellis III died, stated township manager Robert Williams. Funeral plans have not been released and Tuesday’s supervisors meeting was canceled to honor his service — he had also owned Easton Beverage.  Lehigh Valley Live
