- ➤ GEODIS will hire 195 seasonal workers in the Lehigh Valley to boost its warehouse and distribution operations for the busy holiday season. - ➤ Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites will hold its 12th Apple Days festival at Burnside Plantation, 1461 Schoenersville Road, on Sept. 20-21 with many family events and a petting zoo featuring sheep, rabbits, miniature donkeys and ponies — along with 10 Nigerian Dwarf and Pygmy goats available for snuggling. - ➤ The Celtic Classic Highland Games and Festival will take place Sept. 26 to 28 in downtown Bethlehem with free Celtic music, dance, competitions and family activities planned by the Celtic Cultural Alliance. The festival will begin on Friday with a Haggis Bowl at 5:30 p.m.—drawing entertainers from Scotland and Ireland to perform on multiple stages. Bethlehem Press

- ➤ Bethlehem Area School District named Dr. Jodi Frankelli as its new chief pupil services officer on September 16. She brought years of classroom and administrative experience from roles in Allentown and Palmerton and will lead student support services including special education, counseling, and health. - ➤ Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown announced that Dr. Hoda Ehsan joined as chief learning officer to lead STEAM education while Dr. Julie Ambrose was promoted to director of philanthropy to manage donor support—both bring deep experience in education and nonprofit work. Bethlehem Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Longtime District Judge Douglas Schlegel died Monday in the emergency room at St. Luke’s Hospital in Allentown—he had been receiving care at Phoebe Rehabilitation Center and previously served as a police officer in Bushkill Township and Easton. - ➤ Residents said they opposed a rule that will take effect in October and require people to sign up 24 hours before speaking via video at commissioner meetings—citizens believed the change limits free speech.
