- ➤ A vigil was held Saturday in Allentown to honor Charlie Kirk, who will be laid to rest today—15-year-old Parkland student Truman Rucher organized the event to continue Kirk’s legacy by uniting community members from across the Lehigh Valley. The gathering provided a space for people to share their memories of him. 69 News
- ➤ West End Alliance will host its annual block party in Allentown on September 27—offering residents food and local entertainment. 69 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A mini golf tournament fundraiser will be held at Putt U on Sunrise in a few weeks to support the Chip Rorhbach Foundation and help save the arts—honoring Chip, who died in 2023 at 54. Chip’s wife Jeannine explained that the event will carry on his legacy of kindness and passion for theatre in the community. 69 News
- ➤ On Saturday, Sept. 20, more than 1,000 fans lined up outside Spin Me Round Records at Palmer Park Mall to see Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B as she promoted her new album 'Am I the Drama?'. Cardi B arrived after a delay and told fans she would stay until 3 a.m.—a promise that kept the excitement high during her meet-and-greet tour. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ Saturday night, WFMZ journalists won awards at the Mid-Atlantic Emmy’s with reporter Jaccii Farris earning multiple honors, Spanish reporter Leslie Lopez, photojournalist Isaias Alberto, and writers Perla Lopez-Baray and Paloma Freundt being recognized; our own Rob Vaughn was named to the Silver Circle Society — marking a strong night for the station. 69 News

- ➤ Travelers along highways see small sumac plants turning orange and yellowish red as fall appears — native species like common boneset and invasive sweet autumn clematis bloom in roadside gardens. Residents also noted that hawks with wide wings and sparrows with white throats have been migrating overhead, marking the seasonal change. Lehigh Valley Live
- ➤ WM (formerly Waste Management) opened an 80,000-square-foot recycling center at 910 W. Pennsylvania Ave. in Plainfield Township that can sort and process up to 300 tons of recyclable materials daily. Lehigh Valley Live

- ➤ The Valley Preferred Cycling Center—known as T-Town—will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Oct. 12 with a special event that includes a reenactment of founder Bob Rodale's first ride and appearances by local leaders and cycling legends.
