  • Fulton Bank has expanded its wealth management team in the Lehigh Valley by naming Richard Scott and Kyle Kocher as senior vice presidents—strengthening its private banking services for local clients.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • Chef José Garces announced he will open his second restaurant, Okatshe, at 947 Hamilton St. at the Moxy Hotel in downtown Allentown on Oct. 1. The modern Japanese izakaya will serve sushi, seafood, and cocktails—featuring a whisky bar and Tokyo-inspired art.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • Venture X in Bethlehem has served 250 members and holds a waiting list as coworking spaces regain popularity. Owner Terry Wallace said a new location is planned in Allentown — the expansion will give local businesses a flexible office space closer to home.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • A popular food truck known for its made-from-scratch soul food has opened a permanent restaurant at South Mall in the old Gertrude Hawk space near Ohana WonderTown Playground—owner Shayvonne Terry-Rivera plans a grand opening on Sept 27. CRIME NEWS

  • An Allentown mother said her 9-year-old daughter Luna with special needs left Brigadier General Anna Mae Hays Elementary unsupervised this morning and was later found safe at home—she has filed police reports and raised the matter with the School Board as an investigation begins.  69 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fifth graders at Central Elementary in Allentown voiced an animated film titled 'Passport to Puerto Rico' to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The 50-minute film tells the story of Roberto’s magical journey to embrace his culture—an effort supported by classmates and school staff over six months.  69 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The East Penn School District Board of Directors approved a new annual salary of $204,225 for Superintendent Kristen Campbell for the 2025-26 school year, retroactive to July 1, during Monday night’s meeting + the board also approved three vendor contracts and reviewed policy amendments on grant management, educator conduct, and freedom of speech for employees.  69 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lehigh County Emergency Management received a pet disaster relief trailer on Sept. 10 that can shelter up to 65 pets during emergencies—donated by AKC Reunite and the Kennel Club of Philadelphia. The trailer is equipped with crates, microchips, bowls, and cleaning supplies for use during flooding or winter storms.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is reviewing a proposed merger between Pennsylvania American Water and Community Utilities of Pennsylvania that could affect thousands of water and wastewater customers in Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. Hearings are scheduled today at 1 p.m. in Bethlehem Township and at 6 p.m. in Lehman Township—phone comments will be accepted tomorrow.  69 News
  • Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk said the new Spotlight City Work for America initiative will strengthen the city's workforce as it fills positions with civic match candidates. He noted that retirements by long-serving employees have left a gap — spurring plans to attract future talent.  69 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • St. Luke's University Health Network bought the former St. John's Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church at 617 E. Fourth St. from Lehigh University and will transform it into a center for community health services on South Bethlehem—building on its partnerships with local health centers.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • On Sept. 20, Western United Fish Company recalled 3,314.7 pounds of Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke from Costco after a supplier reported a Listeria positive test on green onions. The recalled tuna had a pack date of Sept. 18 and a sell-by date of Sept. 22, and customers are advised not to eat it.  Daily Voice

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Lehigh Valley IronPigs led the league in attendance with over 585,000 fans at Coca-Cola Park this season even though they did not make the playoffs. The team will host a bacon and brews event on September 27th—while staff begin work on the park's Holiday Illumination event in October.  69 News
