- ➤ Jaindl Farms in Orefield sells 860,000 turkeys each year + over 500,000 during Thanksgiving, and its unique breed offers a broader breast and leaner meat. The family business also expands into ground turkey, turkey jerky, a soda brand, and land and hospitality projects that have created about 150 jobs. Lehigh Valley Business

- ➤ An Allentown School District principal—Stephanie Williams, 39—is facing charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after she acted erratically at a community event at Bucky Boyle Park on Sept. 13, where she damaged a police vehicle and was taken to a hospital. 69 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Hellertown Historical Society announced that the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill site at 150 West Walnut Street has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its importance to the local community since its construction in 1761. The designation - confirmed in August by the National Park Service - follows research led by local descendant Chip Wagner and community support including a Keystone Grant. 69 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Sept. 15, Steckel Elementary School held a schoolwide positive behavior support kick-off assembly and pep rally where Whitehall High School cheerleaders and Big Z attended—photos were taken by the Whitehall High School Photography Club. - ➤ On Sept. 9, the school board approved a seven-year agreement with Digital Scoreboards LLC to install two new digital scoreboards that run on Scorevision software and come with on-site tech support + training and the removal of old boards. The deal costs $49,900 a year with a $35,900 annual reimbursement from DS Media and will also let physical education classes use the scoreboards. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Parents of elementary students in the Northampton Area School District learned on Sept. 16 that redistricting plans will go into effect for the 2026-27 school year—East Allen Elementary will open while Moore and Franklin will close and some students may attend different schools. - ➤ Allentown City Council voted Wednesday to hold a public hearing on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.—the proposed zoning ordinance will simplify codes, support housing supply and affordability, and promote mixed-use zones in the city. 69 News
- ➤ The City of Allentown plans to clear a homeless encampment along Jordan Creek by Monday—its floodplain location deemed unsafe. Residents living in tents and property owner Nat Hyman, who said he would drop his pending lawsuit if the site is cleaned, face uncertainty as the YMCA warming shelter opens next week. 69 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Allentown Health Bureau will begin offering free flu shots for everyone aged six months and older tomorrow from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Alliance Hall—245 N. 6th Street in Allentown. 69 News
