- ➤ Allentown's YMCA warming station at 425 S. 15th St. will open at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 29 to offer overnight shelter for 80 guests after the Jordan Creek encampment closes for safety concerns—local partners helped add 20 new beds. 69 News
- ➤ Volunteers at Schnecksville Fire Company will host an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept 28 featuring ham, sausage, pancakes and more—breakfasts are also planned for the last Sundays in October and November. Sacred Voices will perform spirituals at Union Lutheran Church at 4 p.m. on Sept 28—while the Upper Lehigh Lions Club plans a hoagie fundraiser pickup on Oct 14 after serving food at a football game on Sept 25. - ➤ Alburtis Park celebrated its 100th birthday as residents, families and fans joined games and music events—tossing dimes and playing bingo—while local volunteers sold commemorative T-shirts. The event featured family-friendly activities that brought the community together. Lehigh Valley Press

- ➤ Iron Hill Brewery closed all its restaurants in Lehigh Valley and Central PA including its recently opened location at Lehigh Lifestyle Center in Whitehall. The company said the closure is permanent and will file for bankruptcy soon. Lehigh Valley Business

- ➤ Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom kicked off its fall season on September 25 with Halloween Haunt for teens and Tricks and Treats for families. The park event features haunted mazes, scare zones, live shows, interactive candy stops & pumpkin decorating and runs on select dates through Nov. 2. Lehigh Valley Press

- ➤ PA Chamber CEO Luke Bernstein said that products made in PA boost the state economy through initiatives like the Coolest Thing Made in PA contest — a competition that lets residents vote on local innovations. - ➤ Lehigh Valley International Airport saw a record 299,779 summer passengers between June and August 2025—pushing United up 8.5%, Delta up 5%, and Allegiant up 3.4% while American fell 15% and cargo rose by 41.25% from last August. - ➤ Muhlenberg University received a $315,000 NSF grant to support Chemistry Chair Keri Colabroy’s research that turns tree bark into antibiotics—an effort involving 60 undergraduates since 2017. The grant will help test new enzyme hypotheses as part of a joint project that totals $495,000 with a partner subaward. Muhlenberg College
- ➤ The Salisbury Township School District Board of Directors met on Sept. 17 and heard student and teacher reports on fall sports, the middle school learning lab—earning high praise—and funding adjustments following a $228,712 Title I cut. - ➤ The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission will require electronic submissions as it adopts two SALDO amendments affecting Slatington, Chapman, Glendon — and West Easton, with plans for an online portal set to launch in January. In addition, the LVPC announced the 2025 Lehigh Valley Awards, with nominations open through October 14 and the gala scheduled for December 3 at Hotel Bethlehem. 69 News

- ➤ Anne Baum, the inaugural president of LVHN’s Reilly Children’s Hospital since January 2022, is stepping down on Oct. 31 — LVHN said she oversaw the hospital’s strategic planning and operations during her time at the helm. 69 News
