- ➤ The River Crossing YMCA will open its warming station Monday night at 7 p.m.—it is set to serve 80 guests displaced by the closing of the Jordan Creek encampment and will offer shelter, meals, showers, and access to social services through April. The center partners with local agencies to help residents transition and find long-term support. 69 News
- ➤ Victor Martinez, radio host of La Mega 101.7-FM in Allentown, will begin a two-week cross-country motorcycle ride on Oct. 4 for charity—he aims to raise $300,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as he rides from Memphis to California and returns to Pennsylvania by Oct. 18. - ➤ Marc Fogel, a freed history teacher who was imprisoned in Russia after being detained for traveling with medically prescribed marijuana, is set to appear at the Pennsylvania Cannabis Festival: Fall Marketplace on October 4-5 at Renninger's Farmer's Market in Maxatawny Township — the event will feature the Marc Fogel Freedom Lounge with an LED wall that shares his story and a space for guests to relax and learn more about his experience. - ➤ Baron Vanderburg was appointed to the Palmer Township board of supervisors on Sept. 15 after replacing Charles 'Zeke' Bellis. - ➤ Motorists in Lehigh County face delays as PennDOT begins nighttime work on I-78—eastbound lanes from Exit 57 to Exit 60 are restricted from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. through Friday while westbound lanes are limited from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. through Saturday. Additional daytime projects on local roads in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Emmaus will further narrow lanes and could slow travel. Lehigh Valley Live
