COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials gave an update on the Upper Macungie Community Lifestyle Center construction at Tuesday night’s event at Grange Park in Allentown — they outlined new design changes and upcoming work milestones. The center will begin its next phase soon.  69 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Irish firm Kerry Group will soon open a coffee roasting and extraction facility in Hanover Township—creating 61 jobs and receiving $516,880 in state support. The company will operate from the former Martin Bauer Group site and retain 16 previous employees.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • A popular crystal shop in Whitehall will close by Oct. 25 due to rising rent—its 4,250-square-foot space with 300 gemstones marks the third Pennsylvania closure since 2023, and the owners plan to open a new store in Gulfport, Florida. The announcement was shared on Facebook by co-owners Andrew and Danyel, who cited unexpected challenges as the reason for their move.  Lehigh Valley Live

ECONOMY NEWS

  • PPL is proposing a rate hike for 2026 that will add about $13 a month to the typical residential energy bill—this change will affect local customers in the region.  69 News
  • Gas prices are falling in Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley as winter-blend gasoline becomes available, with AAA East Penn noting that prices dropped by 3.5 cents per gallon to $3.277 in PA and to $3.172 in the Lehigh Valley on Sept. 30. National prices also dropped to $3.150 as lower production costs and tighter crude inventories ease pump prices—helping drivers save money.  Lehigh Valley Business

  • Maternal and Family Health Services is ending the WIC program at Casa Guadalupe on North 2nd Street today. The agency continues its services at a center on West Linden Street + additional locations in Easton and Bethlehem.  69 News
  • Jay's Local in West End earned a Blue Zones distinction for offering a healthy menu with whole grains, less salt unless requested, and smaller dishes for children. The restaurant will host a Blue Zones ribbon-cutting this Friday—continuing its long-standing commitment to community health and events that bring neighbors together.  69 News
