  • Tilghman Street in South Whitehall reopened Tuesday morning after a gas leak caused by a contractor hitting a gas line during construction forced a power outage that led Parkland School District to dismiss Parkway Manor Elementary at 1 p.m. while UGI turned off gas shortly after 12:30 p.m.—no injuries were reported.  69 News

  • Local merchants in Bethlehem are facing rising costs as tariffs increase on imported goods—Grazia’s Italian Market now pays a 15% levy on items that change in price each week. Other local vendors are also dealing with unpredictable costs, which makes planning for new shipments more difficult.  Bethlehem Press
  • Doceo, a leading business technology company, was named one of the 2025 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for the third consecutive year—showing its strong commitment to a people-first culture.   • The U.S. Army ordered 86 new M917A3 trucks from Mack Defense at its Allentown plant as part of a five-year, $221.8 million contract funded by the 2025 defense budget. The trucks will help build and repair military sites — showing the Army's trust in American work.  69 News
  • Mack Defense said it received an initial order for 86 M917A3 Heavy Dump Trucks from the Army as part of a new five-year contract worth up to $221.8M. CRIME NEWS

  • Two schools in the Allentown School District—William Allen High School and Raub Middle School—were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after police activity began at 10:30 a.m., and the lockdown was lifted just before noon after parents were notified.  69 News

  • At the Sept 16 meeting, council President Michael Colon celebrated the Lehigh Little League 9-10 all-stars for winning the USA East regional championship as resident Peg Church expressed worry about homeless living along the river with winter nearing. Norfolk Southern Railway will require all encampment residents to move by Dec 17—while council members and police work with outreach groups to offer support and discuss relocating bus stops.  Bethlehem Press
