  • On Saturday, pickleballers and other players gathered at St. Luke's SportsPlex to raise funds for the Fund to Benefit Children and Youth—whose quick support provides beds for children in need. The event also featured cornhole and ping pong competitions to encourage community giving.  69 News
  • The Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem offers fall programs—ranging from sports and finance to after school clubs and summer camps—that give local youth a safe place to learn and have fun.  69 News

  • The Pennsylvania Attorney General said customers with Iron Hill Brewery gift cards should ask their credit card companies for a refund and file a complaint with his office. The chain closed all locations and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy—leaving many customers waiting to get their money back.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • The Cozy Crumbs Cafe (at 27 N. Seventh St.) will open in late fall in downtown Allentown, serving specialty drinks and hand-crafted sweets. Owner Tala Madanat (after six months selling her treats at local markets) said her new cafe is a dream coming true.  69 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • City officials and young ballplayers unveiled a climate-focused mural at Fountain Park on Oct. 10 using a $5,000 grant from the Youth Climate Action Fund — the artwork titled 'Manos Que Reciclan, Mundo Que Respira' supports environmental care and youth education.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Johnny Walsh, a new board member of the Old Allentown Preservation Association and a local classical pianist, will perform a mix of Classical and Contemporary pieces at a Saturday concert to raise funds for Pocket Park repairs in Old Allentown+ the event will also provide details on upcoming Historic District developments and preservation plans.  69 News
  • ArtsQuest’s Oktoberfest at SteelStacks in Bethlehem runs through today—drawing large crowds for a stein holding contest, flip cup tournament and live polka music. Festival organizers expect record attendance as visitors enjoy food, music and local traditions.  Lehigh Valley News
