  • Rick Nauman is preparing for the final Tucker’s Toy Run—planned for Nov. 1 with a rain date on Nov. 2—that will deliver over 5,000 toys to pediatric patients at St. Luke’s in Fountain Hill. Around 1,000 motorcycle riders are expected as Nauman honors Tucker Stuart’s legacy and a 15-year history of support for the hospital.  Lehigh Valley Press

  • Lehigh Valley startup FLX Solutions, founded at Ben Franklin Tech Ventures, is expanding its FLX BOT technology—a small robot that uses cameras and sensors to inspect hard-to-reach areas—to serve customers including the Navy, Air Force and NYC MTA.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • Travis Kelce announced he joined investment firm Jana Partners to buy a 9% stake in Six Flags—the parent company of Dorney Park—valued at about $200 million from last year's merger with Cedar Fair. He said the investment is personal because of his love for amusement parks.  69 News
  • A local business is hosting a knit blanket workshop at Applejack’s Country Store in Whitehall Township as fall chills arrive in the Lehigh Valley. The popular three-hour class — led by Twisted Threads owner Stephanie Madara — teaches participants to make cozy blankets and will run again on Nov. 1.  69 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Allentown updated and digitized more than 2,000 property records in its three historic districts—Old Allentown, Old Fairgrounds and West Park—at an open house at City Hall on Tuesday night; the new digital files will be submitted to the state Historic Preservation Office and added to PA-SHARE to guide future preservation efforts.  WLVR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At an Oct. 14 board meeting, two architectural firms presented proposals for the new Sheckler Elementary School addition while the superintendent explained that the review began in September and a decision will be made at the Nov. 11 meeting. The board also approved several staff changes and policy updates — including new appointments and adjustments to substitute roles — as part of its regular business.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • The Parkland Board of School Directors voted Tuesday to extend the contracts of superintendent Mark Madson, assistant superintendent Michelle Minotti, and chief financial officer Leslie Frisbie for five years—extensions that begin July 1, 2026.  69 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of The Lehigh Valley is breaking ground on a new program and event space at its office in South Whitehall Township—this safe space will host support groups and art and music therapy for children with cancer. Renovations will take three to four months to complete.  69 News

  • A new study ranked Reading at No. 9 and Allentown at No. 19 among the top housing markets for building wealth based on July Zillow data. The study examined home value growth and sale-to-list ratios—showing strong price gains in Lehigh Valley and other Pennsylvania cities.  Lehigh Valley Business
