COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ripple Community Inc. has helped people without homes for ten years in Allentown and will open its new art gallery on Nov. 19 at its building on W. Linden St. The art show, called 'The Art of Neighboring,' will display work by local artists and a big mural (open through Jan. 3 on select days).  Lehigh Valley Live

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Game Commission warned that deer collision risks will peak this fall as the rut season and the time change on Nov. 2 increase the chance of deer crossing roads during heavy traffic hours. Motorists are urged to drive carefully near Deer Crossing signs — a sight that may signal more deer on the road.  Lehigh Valley Live

CRIME NEWS

  • A custodian at Harrison Morton Middle School was suspended without pay after allegations of inappropriate conduct occurred after hours on October 17th — officials said the employee had no contact with students and Allentown police were contacted per district protocol.  69 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Crossover country singer Charley Crockett will perform at Wind Creek Event Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, and tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 — general admission costs $49.50 while seated wings are $79.50.  Lehigh Valley News
  • ArtsQuest presented a sneak peek of its new Creative Factory, a five-story, 78,500-square-foot center replacing the Banana Factory that will include galleries, classrooms, studios and event spaces — it is set to complete in late 2026.  WLVR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students in Allentown and Bethlehem Area School Districts were surprised with $10,000 scholarships from Saquon Barkley and his foundation—Liberty High School's girls basketball team and an Allentown student athlete leader received the awards, according to school posts.  69 News
  • Moravian University and DeSales University announced new bachelor’s degree programs in aviation that will combine flight training with business studies and begin enrolling students in fall 2026. Moravian will offer aviation management and pilot training courses at LVIA—while DeSales will offer Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor tracks aligned with FAA standards.  WLVR
  • On Friday, October 24, Muhlenberg celebrated the topping-off ceremony as the final steel beam was installed in the Gateway Pavilion at the Seegers Union expansion—attended by faculty, students, alumni, and friends at the Prosser Hall parking lot. The 35,000-square-foot addition will offer a welcome center, new spaces for career services, alumni events and classrooms, and it is set to be completed in mid-2026.  Muhlenberg College

  • Slate Belt police confirmed that five raccoons tested positive for rabies in Wind Gap, Pen Argyl, Mt. Bethel, and Plainfield Township over the past two weeks and urged residents to avoid wild animals showing symptoms (such as staggering or drooling) while securing pet food indoors.  Lehigh Valley Live
