- ➤ At its Fall Signature Event LVEDC showcased the Lehigh Valley’s $9B manufacturing industry and launched a 'Made in the Lehigh Valley' billboard campaign along major routes—Route 22 and Interstate 78. The campaign began Nov. 3 with Crayola and will include firms like Freshpet, Mack Trucks and Martin Guitar, with LVEDC President Don Cunningham noting that manufacturing now makes up 16% of the local economy. - ➤ Northwestern beat North Schuylkill 3-0 in the District 11 Class 3A girls volleyball tournament first round—strong serving and teamwork powered wins in all three sets. The Lady Tigers moved into the semi-finals with key plays from Lacey Clymer and Daisy Stringer. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Northwestern boys soccer team beat Kutztown 3-2 last week to finish an 18-1-0 season and earn the top seed in the Colonial League tournament, and they will defend their title next week—while the girls team ended an undefeated season with a record 46-game win streak and now heads into playoffs. - ➤ The Salisbury football team ended its regular season with a 56—27 loss to Palisades last Friday and will now compete in the District 11 Class 3A playoffs as the No. 8 seed. They will face top-seeded Notre Dame (Green Pond) today at 6:30 p.m. at Catasauqua’s Alumni Field. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Northwestern’s Lady Tigers, seeded seventh, lost 3 to 1 to third seeded Bethlehem Catholic in the District 11 3A volleyball semifinal at Catasauqua High School—ending their first-ever run in the semis. - ➤ The Parkland High School girls soccer team won a quarterfinal game 4 to 0 and a semifinal game 5 to 1—setting them up to face the second seed Nazareth in tonight's championship game at Northampton High School. - ➤ Parkland High School boys soccer went 17-0 in the regular season but was upset 1-0 in the semifinals when Eduardo Freitas scored an overtime goal at Pleasant Valley last Thursday—Andrew Staples made four important saves. The team, now 18-1-1, hosted a quarterfinal win against Nazareth on Wednesday and will face the winner from the upcoming Freedom versus Pleasant Valley semifinal next Tuesday. Lehigh Valley Press
