- ➤ Downtown Allentown Alliance has opened a new office at Two City Center, 645 Hamilton St. Suite 10 and launched a hospitality ambassador program run by Block by Block to boost safety and engagement on Hamilton Street. - ➤ Price Chopper and Market 32 launched a $40 Thanksgiving feast deal for up to 10 people on Sunday, Nov. 16 at all 129 stores in New England, New York and Pennsylvania. The deal offered a 13-pound frozen turkey, potatoes, vegetables and staple sides, and fully cooked holiday meals remain available for preorder through Thursday, Nov. 20. Daily Voice
- ➤ Aesculap Implant Systems of Upper Saucon Township — a Lehigh County firm — agreed to pay $38.5 million to settle allegations that its VEGA Knee System could fail prematurely. The company also settled DOJ claims over selling unapproved devices — a former employee pleaded guilty and it ended its U.S. orthopedic sales in 2024 — and said it did not knowingly cause false claims. 69 News
- ➤ Next month, Wind Creek Event Center owner Jeff Trainer will open The Broken Record, a restaurant in Lower Macungie Township that blends music with a menu of small plates and drinks with music-inspired names. The eatery features walls lined with memorabilia and an interactive bar with 36 seats — designed for close conversation. WLVR
- ➤ Beloved family-owned Jaindl Farms in North Whitehall Township rushed to fill turkey orders for Thanksgiving—spanning 14,000 acres, the farm supplies 2.5%-3% of the turkeys eaten on the holiday and sells fresh turkeys from sunrise to sunset at 3151 Coffeetown Road. 69 News

- ➤ An Allentown man named Matthew Blum built an Atari-style racing game called Route 22 Rampage that is inspired by the slow traffic and potholes on Route 22. He developed the game in his home workshop—printing 42 limited-edition cartridges and offering a free version on his website. 69 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A new K-8 academy will be built by the Allentown School District at 1600 Hanover Ave—on the site of the old state hospital—and it will serve about 1,200 students in two wings for younger and older kids. The $136 million project will open during the 2027-28 school year and include shared spaces like athletic fields and a play area. 69 News
- ➤ On Monday, November 17, Muhlenberg launched an elementary education major and minors in secondary education and education studies for teacher certification. The new program builds on its certification offerings and liberal arts strengths—giving future teachers hands-on field experience and strong mentorship. Muhlenberg College

- ➤ Allentown's school bus camera system has issued many $300 fines, and drivers say the photos sometimes do not clearly show a violation. - ➤ Cortex Residential has begun building Walnut Square at 40 S. Eighth Street in Allentown to create 38 affordable housing units that must remain low-cost for at least 40 years—funded by $17 million from community and government sources.
