- ➤ City crews cleared a homeless encampment by Jordan Creek Greenway on Monday—evicting residents after weeks of warnings amid National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The move came after several camps were closed since August to reduce flood risks, and local shelters, including the Allentown YMCA, worked to provide beds and housing options for those displaced. - ➤ Nearly 1,400 coats donated during the WFMZ and Lehigh Valley Phantoms drive at the PPL Center and other local drop sites were delivered to the Salvation Army on Wednesday. The coats will be distributed on Dec. 3 — supporting various Salvation Army programs. 69 News

- ➤ Trevor Noah will perform at Wind Creek Event Center on February 16 at 8 p.m.—tickets go on sale Thursday, November 20 at noon with pre-sales for First Access and Music Insiders on November 19—and he is a former Daily Show host recognized for his Emmy-winning work. 69 News
- ➤ The Northampton Area High School Drama Club will perform 'The White Rose,' a play about Sophie Scholl and her friends who risked their lives against Nazi rule, starting Nov. 21 at the school auditorium. The production will run with evening and afternoon shows through Nov. 23—each performance sharing a true story of resistance during World War II. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Central Elementary STREAM students previewed their film Passport to Puerto Rico Tuesday night at Univest Public Media Center—showcasing Puerto Rican food, Bomba music and dance—and the full film will debut on PBS39 Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. The teaser celebrated the island’s traditions while honoring local cultural roots. - ➤ A tribute concert honoring jazz musician Gary Hassay will take place at 7:30 p.m. November 22 at Egner Chapel—Muhlenberg College in Allentown, where former collaborators will perform and donations will be accepted at the door. Lehigh Valley Press

- ➤ Two Northwestern Lehigh Middle School eighth graders, Emily Mahar and Emilia Bisignani, will perform in the 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia on November 27—chosen for their strong chorus and drama skills. Bethlehem Press
- ➤ At the Nov. 11 board meeting, members chose Alloy5 Architecture to design the Sheckler Elementary School addition after comparing them with MKSD Architects—board president Dale Hein said one member abstained due to a conflict. The board also looked at the budget for the 2026 to 27 school year with meetings planned in January, February, and May—final votes will come later this year. Lehigh Valley Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Palmer Township compiled a study showing that Lehigh Valley communities pay different rates for trash removal—Palmer residents pay $320 a year while South Whitehall residents pay $660. The study also found that older contracts yield lower rates and that communities allowing residents to choose their own hauler receive fewer services as tipping and hauling fees are expected to rise. - ➤ Developer Brian Bartee said the Dixie Cup Factory redevelopment will move forward with plans for luxury apartments despite Northampton County rejecting TIF funding — Wilson Borough and the school district approved the proposal.
