COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Manufacturers from local companies will learn Lean skills at Santa's STANDARD WORKshop on Dec. 9 to 10 in Allentown at the Manufacturers Resource Center's facility, where they will assemble bicycles for Community Bike Works to support local families.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • Residents, staff and volunteers at Fellowship Community in Whitehall prepared about 300 gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child on Nov. 12 at 3000 Fellowship Drive — the first such event at the facility to mark the holiday season. The boxes include school supplies, toys and hygiene items for children overseas.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • Troop 32 Scouts from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Whitehall delivered 1,081 pounds of food to the Whitehall Food Pantry (at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3900 Mechanicsville Road) on Nov. 8, which serves about 165-170 families each month.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • On Wednesday, the Salvation Army distributed coats collected during its record-setting drive — with support from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms — to families in need in Allentown. People lined up before doors opened at 10 a.m. as the snow began to fall.  69 News

  • Allentown’s Hawaii Fluid Art rebranded as Hangout for Art and is now located at 3325 Hamilton Boulevard. The studio has expanded beyond its signature paint pours to offer workshops, private events, and hands-on creative projects - including classes in pour painting, resin art, and more.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • Ellen Latzen, best known as Ruby Sue in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, will appear live on 69 News at Sunrise on Saturday, Dec. 6 to discuss her return to acting and her new projects. Latzen lives in the Lehigh Valley + will join an ArtsQuest Q-and-A later in the month.  69 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Whitehall High School teacher Carolyn Radon received the High School Advisor of the Year award for 2025 at a state conference held Nov. 7-8 in New Castle — she first earned the Region I honor in April and is set to attend the national conference.  Lehigh Valley Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Breastfeeding Shop in Emmaus agreed to pay $1 million to settle allegations it submitted false claims for breast pump equipment billed to TRICARE, the Department of Justice said.  69 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mondelez Global is recalling 70 cases of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches sold in eight states, including Pennsylvania, after a packaging error mislabeled peanut butter as cheese and may put people with peanut allergies at risk. Shoppers should discard the affected 27.6-oz cartons and call 1-844-366-1171 with questions.  Daily Voice
  • Jefferson Health will add 86 nurses to its elite Nursing S.E.A.L. Team for Lehigh Valley hospitals. Orientation begins in December (with deployment in January) to boost staffing flexibility and reduce reliance on agency nurses.  Lehigh Valley Business
