  • On Dec. 6, the Kuhnsville Lions Club hosted its annual Christmas party for hearing and vision impaired residents at St. John's UCC in Fogelsville. Approximately 50 guests enjoyed festive gifts from Santa and moments of community warmth.  Lehigh Valley Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Building Performance Association reported that energy efficiency jobs in Pennsylvania increased by 4.63% in 2024, reaching 76,289 workers and outpacing national growth. Metropolitan areas such as Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton saw strong demand as state training programs work to address hiring challenges.  Lehigh Valley Business

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Boscola announced a plan to preserve a 31-acre farm in Lower Mount Bethel Township as part of Pennsylvania's Farmland Preservation Program. The Commonwealth and Northampton County invested $230,944 — $17,131 from the state and $213,812 from the county — to keep the farmland available for future generations.  69 News
  • South Whitehall Planners reviewed a sketch plan last Thursday at the township building for expanding Al-Ahad Islamic Center with an educational center, pickleball courts, and a playground. They flagged potential congestion along the site and removed a Chase Bank proposal from the evening agenda.  69 News

  • Style expert Patricia Mae Olson joined 69 News on Thursday morning to share unique holiday gift ideas with local viewers; she detailed suggestions such as coffee table books (covering skiing and cooking themes), reusable scout bags, destination ornaments, pajamas, and trendy bag charms. SPORTS NEWS

  • The Parkland High School boys soccer team ended its season two weeks ago with a 23-2-1 record and a District 11 4A championship win while nearly advancing to a state title.   • The PIAA launched its radio network on Thursday, Dec. 4 with the first football championship broadcast. The network’s free+ stream is available on its website and YouTube, and radio stations are invited to carry the broadcasts.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • Salisbury High School Falcons finished their 2025 season 2-9 and reached the District 11 playoffs, showing resilience despite key injuries and one-point losses. Head coach Kevin DiZenzo said the tough season built character for returning players as they look ahead to 2026.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • Northwestern Lehigh lost a PIAA semifinal soccer game to Archbishop Wood after 110 minutes of play led to a penalty kick shootout. Archbishop Wood won 3-1 after regulation and overtime ties, with senior Kylie Wiest scoring the decisive penalty.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • Emmaus field hockey team captured its 16th state title with a 3-2 win over Central Bucks West Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School (after junior Gracie Huffer was briefly penalized in the final quarter).  Lehigh Valley Press
  • Emmaus junior forward Elizabeth Bender and senior defender Emma Paradise earned spots on the East Penn Conference First Team All-Star for girls soccer this fall, with Bender scoring 21 goals and Paradise excelling on defense.   • Northwestern's varsity wrestling team will field a more experienced squad this winter led by senior Luke Fugazzotto, a two-time state medalist, after a 15-8 season. They will face Saucon Valley for the District 11 title on Jan. 14 in Hellertown.  Lehigh Valley Press
