- ➤ Quarry Park reopened yesterday — updated playground equipment featuring a rocket ship theme and smiling space aliens was unveiled during a ribbon cutting at 7871 Quarry Road in Lower Macungie Township. Local families and park staff celebrated the new facility. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ St. John’s UCC Church hosted a pork and sauerkraut dinner at 139 N. Fourth St., Emmaus on Sunday, Dec. 28 with a team of volunteers & locals preparing the meal and desserts that brought the community together. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Volunteers from Emmaus High School clubs assembled about 160 care packages on Dec. 28 to help students in need, a project organized by the Angel Network. Thirty-three student volunteers & more than 25 adults worked together to build the packages. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Volunteers from the Emmaus Lions Club wrapped holiday gifts on December 28 to spread cheer during the season. They set up organized wrapping stations so helpers could cut, tape, and decorate packages + share community spirit. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ Lehigh Christian Academy student council is hosting its annual food drive today at 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. to support the Cedar Crest Food Bank, which aids over 2,000 local families and teaches students leadership and compassion. Lehigh Valley Press
- ➤ A used book sale organized by Friends of the Lower Macungie Township Library took place yesterday at the township library, drawing local readers to browse quality pre-loved books (supported by local volunteers). Lehigh Valley Press

- ➤ On Dec. 19, Christian Ferro of the Pennsylvania Lottery distributed free Cash Pop tickets at Sims Quality Market in South Whitehall. Owner Raj Patel said the store cashed $500,000 in winnings and reported a $1.7 million Cash 5 win, making it one of the largest Keno vendors in the commonwealth. Parkland Press

- ➤ The Diocese of Allentown is hosting a cathedral celebration today to mark the end of its Jubilee Year of Hope, closing a year-long series of faith events + uniting parishioners through shared traditions. 69 News

- ➤ Fourth-grade students from local elementary schools made red, white and blue paper quilt squares at Agricultural Education Day in Agri~Plex, and the quilt will be mounted for display at the Great Allentown Fair Sept. 2-7, 2026, celebrating America’s heritage with a nod to the 250th anniversary. - ➤ On Dec. 12, second grade classes from Salisbury Elementary walked to the district administration building to hang ornaments on the lobby tree, sing a song, and tour the building with Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten. The event spread holiday cheer throughout the community. Lehigh Valley Press

- ➤ On Dec. 11, South Whitehall Township's Emergency Management Agency honored service members with awards at a meeting held at Cetronia Ambulance Corps. Township manager Tom Petrucci and EMA Director Jeff Kelly presented awards to several members, including outgoing supervisor Monica Hodges and John Frantz. Parkland Press
- ➤ At an Upper Milford Township board meeting on Dec. 18, supervisors approved a revised parking plan for Jasper Ridge HOA after a contentious debate, setting conditions for enforcement (including signage) once the township takes over roads in summer 2026. Lehigh Valley Press

- ➤ On Dec. 12, Jefferson Health's Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital held a ceremony honoring August David Adler after his family donated an Adalyn Rose Foundation remembrance cart for grieving families.
