  • Allentown gets its first-ever New Year's Eve drone show from Slatington-based Star Flight Drone Shows. The display of 100 synchronized drone lights will launch at midnight today near Seventh and Hamilton streets, with design and flight paths planned in coordination with the FAA.  69 News
  • After record crowds braved a 14-degree chill at SteelStacks on Tuesday, Dec. 30, for the 17th PeepsFest, the festival continues today from 3 to 6 p.m. in Bethlehem with fun family activities, music and the signature Peeps Chick drop.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Allentown is set to drop one of the world’s biggest hockey pucks today — the 4th annual event sees local companies finalizing the design at the PPL Center and preparing a 20-foot-tall puck with a glowing 2026 sign to mark the New Year.  69 News
  • Suburban North Family YMCA (880 Walnut St.) in Catasauqua will close its branch on Jan. 4, ending decades of service for fitness and youth programs. River Crossing YMCA will support members (three months free access to other branches) and maintain local childcare programs.  Lehigh Valley Press
  • The Colonial Regional Police Department conducted its annual Shop with a Cop program on Dec. 6, where seven children enjoyed breakfast at Chick-fil-A, shopped at Walmart & visited Santa Claus at Red Robin. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Giant Company will close its Coopersburg fulfillment center by end of April, affecting 106 workers as it shifts to store-based fulfillment and uses third-party drivers for online grocery orders — team members may be offered alternative roles across other locations.  69 News
  • Giant will close its PA fulfillment centers — including locations in Coopersburg, Lancaster, Willow Grove and North Coventry — as it shifts to store-based picking and third-party delivery by the end of April. Customers can expect orders delivered within two hours via providers like Instacart or DoorDash.  Lehigh Valley Business
  • The Broken Record, a music-themed restaurant in Lower Macungie Township, held a soft opening Monday at 5 p.m. and served about 80 guests. It will run from 4 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 30 before closing for New Year’s, with plans to add breakfast once approved by the township.  Lehigh Valley News

  • Steckel Elementary's third-grade chorus performed at a holiday concert on Dec. 18 in the Whitehall High School auditorium with fun songs like 'Cold Snap' and 'Let’s Take a Sleigh Ride' (music teacher Ben Stefan welcomed families).  Lehigh Valley Press
  • High school musicals have begun rehearsals across the Lehigh Valley ahead of the 24th Freddy Awards at the State Theatre in Easton on May 21.   • St. Luke’s University Health Network has joined a national clinical trial to test the new INHANCE Shoulder System, a stemless design that may preserve more bone for patients needing reverse total shoulder replacement.   • Gary Thornton will become the new executive director at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Upper Macungie on January 5 — he plans to guide the venue as it gears up for its 50th anniversary and upcoming events like the Junior National Championships.  69 News
