9 TO 5 (1980) in 35mm

About this event

Get ready to pour yourself a cup of ambition when 9 TO 5 (1980) comes to the Gap Theatre Saturday, November 21 at 8pm, screening in 35mm! And starring the late, great Dolly Parton in her unforgettable feature-film debut! Directed by Colin Higgins, this beloved workplace comedy stars Parton alongside Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman. Fonda, Tomlin and Parton play three fed-up office workers pushed to the breaking point by their sexist, egotistical boss, Franklin Hart (Coleman). After fantasizing about getting even with him, an outrageous misunderstanding leads the women to kidnap Hart and take control of the office themselves—discovering that they can run the place a whole lot better without him. With Parton’s natural charisma, hilarious performance and unforgettable songs, 9 TO 5 remains one of the great comedies of the 1980s and a perfect showcase for Dolly’s one-of-a-kind screen presence.
